​Candela M. Prol

​Candela Prol has a degree in Anthropology from the New School for Social Research and graduated Cum Laude from Johnson & Wales Culinary University. After working as a Chef in RI, she joined the Pier House Hotel as Sommelier, then managed of the Café at Louie’s Backyard.

With an interest in wine and spirits, Candela then went on to represent the Lenz, Palmer and Paumanok wineries, and had a long standing affiliation with Astor Wines & Spirits as senior saleswomen. She received the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Diploma from the International Wine Center in 1997, where she has taught the Aromas of Wine, the Wine & Spirit Education Trust: Intermediate and Advanced Certificates, and Diploma classes with a specialty on the wines of the Iberian Peninsula. She is also a Certified Wine Educator from the Society of Wine Educators, and a private tutor for students of the WSET courses.

Candela has been a Contributing Editor to Food & Wine, has been a formal educator at several Key West locations, and she wrote a column for Solares Hill newspaper in Key West.
